Sony Xperia smartphones get ICS update

Committed to its customers, Sony Ericsson (now Sony Mobile) has officially announced the upgradation of the operating system of some of its phone from Android Gingerbread (v2.3) to Android IceCream Sandwich (v4.0).






Some popular phones getting the upgrade are the Xperia Arc S, Xperia Ray and Neo V in India. At the launch of the Sony Xperia S last week, the Sony spokesperson had shared plans of enabling the upgrade within April 2012.

Users of these phones will have to connect the handset to the PC and update the software using the proprietary PC Companion. The company also recommends that the phone should have more than 50 percent battery charge during the process of updating.

mosimageInterestingly, we came across an Xperia Ray user who managed to update the handset last night itself. When checked for the update for other devices, the update was not available for Xperia S till this morning.

However, now the users of all the three handsets can update the device to Android ICS. The company's website also states that the other handsets in the Xperia lineup, the Arc, Play, Neo, Pro, Mini and Mini Pro, Active and Live with Walkman will receive the update.

Clinton confronts dissident case ahead of China talks

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in  China  on Wednesday for top-level talks that risk being upstaged by the fate of a blind dissident whose supporters say is under U.S. protection in Beijing after escaping house arrest. Washington has not even commented on the whereabouts of the dissident, legal activist Chen Guangcheng, whose plight has overshadowed the Strategic and Economic Dialogue due to begin on Thursday. The United States hopes the talks will encourage greater Chinese cooperation on trade as well over  Iran , Syria, North Korea and other international disputes. Facebook's IPO show to hit the road on May 7: source

The roadshow for Facebook Inc's initial public offering is scheduled to start on Monday, meaning the company's shares should begin trading on May 18, a source familiar with the process said on Tuesday. Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who has mostly operated in the background during Facebook's closely watched journey to public markets, will be involved in the roadshow, another source said.
